A rare and important late 17th-century miniature table cabinet beautifully veneered in oysters of olive and banded in holly.
Circa 1690-1700 England
The cabinet opens to an arrangement of drawers, a row of four, a bank of four and a long pen drawer, similarly veneered in oysters of olive. Rather cleverly the cabinet also hides a further three ‘secret’ drawers!
It should be noted that table cabinets such as this are extremely rare from the William and Mary period (1689-1702).
