17th Century William and Mary Olive Oyster Cushion Looking Glass, C. 1690

A fine William and Mary late 17th-century olive oyster cushion framed looking glass with the original soft bevelled plate.

The original soft bevelled mirror plate is bordered by a cross-grain ogee moulding. The pulvinated cushion frame is decorated entirely in well-chosen book-matched olive oysters and edged with an ovolo cross-grain moulding.

This is an extremely rare example to retain the original hand-bevelled looking glass.

The colour and patination of the original surfaces is very good.

Condition

Good. Wear consistent with age and use.
